sound:frame goes NEW YORK!
The Austrian Cultural Forum New York (ACFNY) präsentiert von 12. September bis 31. Oktober einen Teil der Arbeiten des sound:frame Festivals 2009. In der Ausstellung sound:frame:remix werden auf fünf räumlichen Niveaus elf Videos und Installationen von KünstlerInnen aus Europa und den USA gezeigt.
From the 12th of September until the 31st of October 2009 the Austrian Cultural Forum New York (ACFNY) presents some of the best works of the sound:frame festival, the worldwide known VJ/DJ event from Vienna: videos and audiovisual installations by artists from Europe and the USA.

Die Auswahl im ACFNY stellt den REMIX in den Vordergrund. Sowohl in der elektronischen Musik als auch in deren Visualisierung spielt die künstlerische Strategie des Remixens eine entscheidende Rolle. Künstler arbeiten mit Sound- und Video-Samples. Oft bereits vorhandenes Material wird neu zusammengesetzt, reproduziert oder persifliert.
Neben den audio-visuellen Installationen und Videos setzen sich die New Yorker Street Artists Gabriel "Spencer" Reese und Waylon Tait mit Sampling, Remixing und Recycling unterschiedlicher Materialien auseinander und gestalten die fünf Niveaus der Ausstellungsräumlichkeiten.
Die Eröffnung der Ausstellung sound:frame:remix markiert auch den Anfang von moving sounds, ein Festival welches ein offenes Forum für Dialoge über Sound kreiert.

The selection puts REMIX in the foreground. In electronic music as well as in its visualization, the artistic strategy of remixing plays a pivotal role. Artists work with sound and video samples. Often, already existing material is newly put together, reproduced, or parodied. The idea of remixing and recycling has strongly influenced the exhibition design by Gabriel "Specter" Reese.
